Pujals Named Patriot League Offensive Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross senior quarterback Peter Pujals has been named the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Saturday’s game against Monmouth. This marks the fourth time Pujals has earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors in his collegiate career.
During the 48-36 loss to Monmouth, Pujals hit on 36 of 63 passes for 509 yards and four touchdowns, in addition to rushing for a score. He broke the school single-game record for passing yards, which he had previously set himself with 508 yards at Fordham in 2015. Pujals also placed fifth on the all-time Patriot League single-game list for most passing yards. He now owns the only two 500-yard passing games in Holy Cross history, while his 509 passing yards are the fourth-most by any FCS player in a single game this season.
In six games played this year, Pujals has connected on 157 of 285 attempts for 1,825 yards and 12 touchdowns. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has now hit on 990 of 1,651 passes for 10,744 yards and 79 touchdowns, while rushing 466 times for 1,656 yards and 17 scores. Pujals currently ranks second all-time at Holy Cross in career completions, pass attempts, passing yards and touchdown passes.
The Crusaders (2-4 overall, 1-1 Patriot League) return to action on Saturday, Oct. 14, when they travel to Yale (3-1 overall, 1-1 Ivy League) for a 1:00 p.m. game.
