Three Crusaders Earn All-Patriot League Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Three student-athletes on the Holy Cross field hockey team earned All-Patriot League honors, as announced by the league on Tuesday. Senior Maureen Connolly and junior Emily Loprete were both named First Team All-Patriot League, while senior Rachel Lapar was named to the second team.

Connolly was named All-Patriot League for the third consecutive year, having earned a spot on the first team in 2015 and 2016. She led the Patriot League in scoring through the regular season, notching a program-record 47 points on 19 goals and nine assists. Her 2.76 points per game are currently tied for fourth in the nation. In her career, Connolly has amassed 123 points on 50 goals and 23 assists. She currently ranks second all-time in school history for career points.

Loprete made the All-Patriot League roster for the second-straight year, having been named to the second team in 2016. She ranked second on the Crusaders in scoring during the regular season, notching 22 points on nine goals and four assists. Loprete currently ranks sixth in the Patriot League with 1.29 points per game. In her career, she has totaled 60 points on 26 goals and eight assists.

Lapar made the All-Patriot League team for the first time in her career. During the 2017 regular season, she notched six total points on two goals and two assists. Lapar also played a key role on defense at the midfield position, as the Crusaders averaged just over three goals allowed per game. In her career, Lapar added 13 points with four goals and five assists.

The Crusaders finished the regular season at 7-10 with a 3-3 record in Patriot League play. They will face No. 1-seeded Boston University in the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament this Friday, Nov. 3 at 12:00 p.m.
