Honan's 10 Kills Not Enough for Crusaders in 3-1 Loss to Colgate
HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Holy Cross volleyball team was defeated by the Colgate Raiders, 3-1, Saturday night. Freshman Clare Honan led the Crusaders with 10 kills and had back-to-back matches with double-digit kills. Colgate's Alli Lowe led the Raiders with 14 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders started the match strong and jumped to 10-2 lead over the Raiders. Holy Cross kept the lead for the whole set and won, 25-21.
A kill from Honan tied the beginning of the second set 5-5. After a Holy Cross attack error, the Raiders took a 14-9 lead. With the momentum, Colgate kept the lead and won the set 25-17.
After a service error by Holy Cross, Colgate took a 15-9 lead in the third. Holy Cross was not able to regain the lead and lost the third set, 17-25.
Colgate controlled the fourth set and finished the match, 3-1 after taking the fourth 25-18.
The Crusaders will return home next weekend for the final two matches of the season facing Bucknell on Friday, Nov. 10.
