Men's Hockey Defeated By American International, 2-1
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s hockey team fell to American International, 2-1, at the MassMutual Center on Friday night.
The Crusaders (7-7-7, 6-3-6 AHC) skated for 58 scoreless minutes in the Atlantic Hockey match up as the Yellow Jackets (7-12-2, 6-8-2 AHC) started off the game with two first-period goals. American International struck quickly with a goal just over a minute into the game and followed with another nine minutes later.
The Crusaders battled throughout the game, finally getting on the board with less than two minutes remaining in the game on a six-on-four opportunity. The comeback fell short, as Holy Cross fell, 2-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
1-0 AIC (1st, 1:12, EV): Blake Christensen fired a puck from the top of the left hashmarks that went just inside the far post.
2-0 AIC (1st, 10:11, EV): Darius Davidson sent a shot in along the short side from just below the right hashmarks.
2-1 HC (3rd, 18:09, PP): Spencer Trapp moved the puck at the point to Michael Laffin just below the goal line. Laffin faked and sent the puck across the crease for Scott Pooley to bang it home on the back door.
- Scott Pooley and Michael Laffin stretched their point streaks into four games. Laffin has posted seven points and Pooley with eight in the team’s last four games.
- Paul Berrafato made 25 saves in the game.
- The Crusader goal marks Pooley’s seventh power play goal.

- The Crusaders went 1-4 on the power play and 2-2 on the penalty kill
The Crusaders will host the Yellow Jackets on Jan. 6 at the Hart Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
