C&R TIRE CRUSADER OF THE WEEK

Senior forward Arno Rupp has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from Nov. 6-12. Rupp led the Holy Cross men’s soccer team to the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament last week. For the complete story, click here.

HOLY CROSS ATHLETICS TOP FIVE

Here is a look at this week’s top five noteworthy moments in Holy Cross Athletics:

* Football senior Peter Pujals became Holy Cross’ all-time leader in career games played (48), career games started (46) and career pass attempts (1,796) during the season finale at Lehigh.

* Volleyball freshman Sophie VanSeveren had 20 digs during Saturday’s win over Loyola (Md.), to finish the year with a school single-season record 5.71 digs per set.

* Men’s soccer sophomore Bobby Hurstak came off the bench to make two saves in the penalty kick shootout against Boston University in the Patriot League semifinals, helping the Crusaders to their first championship game appearance since 2013.

* Women’s ice hockey senior Kara Violette recorded her 100th career point during Saturday’s victory over Sacred Heart, and now has 103 points during her collegiate career.

* The men’s basketball (69-64 at Sacred Heart) and women’s basketball (84-56 at UMass Lowell) teams won their season openers in the same year for the first time since 2012.
