Men's Lacrosse To Host Navy

The Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team (2-7, 2-2 Patriot League) is set to host Navy (4-6, 2-3 Patriot League) in a big Patriot League matchup on April 2. Here is what you need to know as the Crusaders enter the eighth week of the season.

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Holy Cross will host Navy on Sunday, April 2 at 11:05 a.m. The game can be seen on the Patriot League Network with Scott Sudikoff and Andy Towne on the call.
  • This is the 16th year the men’s lacrosse team has been a part of the Big Brother Big Sisters program. At the game the Crusaders will host their little brothers.
  • Also, the Holy Cross Autism Awareness Club will have a table at the game as a part of Autism Awareness week. The club will be selling t-shirts to raise money for autism research.
  • The Crusaders are 2-2 in the league with their first ever victory versus Lehigh on Feb. 25, a loss at No. 12 Loyola Maryland on March 4, their first ever win against Bucknell on March 11 and a loss to Army West Point on March 18.
  • The Crusaders’ 2-2 league record is tied for their best ever start to a Patriot League season. Holy Cross also went 2-2 to start the 2015 Patriot League season.
  • The Midshipmen have a 2-3 record in the Patriot League with an 8-7 loss to Boston University on Feb. 25, a 13-7 win against Bucknell on March 4, a loss to both Lafayette on March 11 and Loyola Maryland on March 18 and a 14-9 victory over Lehigh.
  • Last year, Navy defeated Holy Cross by a 12-3 score in Annapolis, Md. on April 2. The Crusaders are 1-12 all-time against the Midshipmen.
  • After the Navy game, the Crusaders will travel to Easton, Pa. on Saturday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m. to play Lafayette.

CRUSADERS LEAD THE LEAGUE IN CAUSED TURNOVERS

  • The Crusaders lead the Patriot League and are seventh in the nation in caused turnovers with 8.78 per game.
  • Junior Henry Lilly and sophomore Matt Farrell are tied for sixth in the Patriot League and 29th in the nation with 1.44 caused turnovers per game.
  • Freshman Mike Martens is eighth in the Patriot League and 40th in the nation with 4.43 ground balls per game, while Farrell is 10th in the Patriot League and 46th in the nation with 4.11.

LUX AND KIRKPATRICK TIED FOR THE TEAM LEAD IN POINTS

  • Senior Sean Kirkpatrick’s 22 points are tied for first on the team. His 15 goals and seven assists are second.
  • Senior Kevin Lux leads the team with 11 assists and is tied for the lead with 22 points. His 11 goals this season are tied for third.
  • For his career, Lux has 60 goals, 35 assists and 95 points.
