Connolly Named Academic All-Patriot League
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior forward Maureen Connolly has been named Academic All-Patriot League, as voted on by the conference’s media relations directors. This is the second-straight year Connolly has been named to the Academic All-Patriot League team.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League team, a student-athlete must possess at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in his/her sport.
Connolly, a chemistry major with a grade point average of 3.31, was also a unanimous first team All-Patriot League selection for the 2016 season. She led the Crusaders in scoring throughout the regular season, notching 37 points on 15 goals and seven assists while sitting atop the league’s leaderboards for the majority of the year. Her 2.06 points per game and .833 goals per game are both the highest in the league. She has also scored a team-leading seven game-winning goals.
A Veteran Leader in the Holy Cross Leadership Academy, Connolly has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll the past two seasons, and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad in 2014.
Natalie Konerth of American was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Joining Konerth and Connolly were Jess Davis and Maura Jacobs of American; Ellie Landsman of Boston University; Anna Wills and Nicole Rupnik of Bucknell; Kayla Robinson of Colgate; Katelyn Arnold and Amanda Magadan of Lafayette; and Jacki Renda of Lehigh.
The Crusaders are back in action on Friday, Nov. 4, as they make their first Patriot League Tournament appearance since 2006 when they take on American at 4:00 p.m. at Boston University’s New Balance Field.
