Field Hockey Drops 4-1 Decision to Fairfield
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross field hockey team lost to Fairfield, 4-1, in their fourth consecutive road game to start the season.
All four of the Stags’ goals came from a different player. Kaley McMullen started the scoring just three minutes into the game when she hit a ball across the left side of the circle towards the far post that found the back of the net. Emma Matlach added a second goal for Fairfield in the first half.
The Stags would add two more goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half before Holy Cross would get on the board. In the 54th minute junior Madeline Alderfer recovered a loose ball in front of the Stags’ goal and took a shot near post that beat the keeper.
The Crusaders will finally get to play in their home opener more than two weeks into the season when they take on Columbia on Sunday at 12:05 p.m.
