Maddy Supple And Tyler Sparling Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes
WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross women's rowing senior captain Maddy Supple and sophomore Tyler Sparling have earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2016-2017 season. To be eligible for this honor, a student-athlete needs to have a 3.5 GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester for the current competition year). The student-athlete also has to be at least a sophomore and rowed in a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event.
This marks the third straight year that Supple has earned this honor. She was also named to the 2017 Academic All-Patriot League team and was a member of the varsity eight that won the Petite Final at the Patriot League Championship. She had a 3.73 grade-point average through the fall semester as a Political Science major and has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every season. She is a three-time member of the Holy Cross Leadership Academy and was a 360 Leader as a senior.
Sparling had a 3.97 grade-point average through the fall semester. This season she competed in seven spring events and was a member of the varsity four that won the Petite Final at the Patriot League Championship. As a freshman in 2015-2016, Sparling competed in six spring events and was a member of the varsity four at the Patriot League Championship. She is a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
