Four Women's Rowing Student-Athletes Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s rowing team saw four members of the team earn Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2017-2018 season. Kate Hegermiller, Mikayla Manyin, Caroline O'Connor, and Tyler Sparling each earned CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors. To be eligible, a student-athlete needs to have a 3.5 GPA or higher for her career, through the fall semester for the current competition year. Also, the student-athlete has to be at least a sophomore and have rowed in a minimum of 75% of the current spring races.
This is the first time Hegermiller, Manyin, and O’Connor have been selected as CRCA National Scholar-Athletes. It is the second consecutive year that Sparling has received the honor. Sparling was also previously named to the Patriot League All-Academic team, for the first time in her career.
Hegermiller and Manyin each raced in the varsity eight boat in the Patriot League Championships in 2018 while Sparling and O’Connor were members of the second varsity eight boat that finished in sixth place in the Grand Final at the Patriot League Championship.
