Julia Maloney Named Patriot League Defender Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross junior goalie Julia Maloney has been named the Corvias Patriot League Defender of the Week, as announced by the league office for her performance in the Crusaders’ 10-0 win versus Iona on Feb. 18. This is the first time she has received this honor.
Maloney recorded a perfect 1.000 save percentage, posting six saves to shutout Iona in a 10-0 win. She also picked up four ground balls and caused one turnover in the Crusaders’ second shutout in program history. The first shutout was on April 23, 1998, with a 21-0 victory over Quinnipiac.
Maloney is 2-1 this season with a 9.00 goals against average and a .518 save percentage. She leads the team with 11 ground balls. Her 29 saves are ranked first in the Patriot League and 11th in the nation.
The Crusaders return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 21, when they travel to Providence, R.I., to play Brown at 6:00 p.m.
