Maddy Smith Earns Academic All-Patriot League Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross senior Maddy Smith was named to the 2017 Academic All-Patriot League Women's Lacrosse team, as selected by the conference's media relations directors. She is one of just 13 women's lacrosse student-athletes from around the league to earn this honor. This is the first time in her career that she has been selected to the Academic All-Patriot League team.
In order to be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have an overall grade-point average of at least 3.20 and be a key starter or key player in her sport.
Smith is an economics major with a 3.66 grade-point average. She started in all 17 games on defense as she was second on the team with 20 caused turnovers. She also picked up 23 ground balls. Smith received 2016 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll accolades and has made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll every season. She is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
