Storrs, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's lacrosse team defeated Holy Cross, 16-11 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon in Storrs. Holy Cross falls to 9-6 overall with the loss. Sophomore Patricia Sutton led the Crusaders with five goals and an assist and freshman Amy Archambault added four goals.

Connecticut took a 2-1 lead just seven minutes into the contest, but Holy Cross then rattled off three straight scores to take a 4-2 lead with 20:09 remaining. Sutton had two tallies and Archambault scored her first goal of the game during the 3-0 run.

The Huskies fought back, however, and went on a 4-0 tear of their own to take a 6-4 lead at the 14:08 mark. Goals by UConn's Burke and Mullaney came just 17 seconds apart. Archambault was able to tie things up at 6-6 after converting on two shots just 1:16 apart, but UConn put two more scores on the board in the final seven minutes to go into the half up 8-6.

Holy Cross freshman Kaitlin Nangle scored less than one minute into the second half to cut the UConn lead to one (8-7). Archambault scored her fourth goal of the game and Sutton added three more scores, but it was not enough as the Huskies were able to outscore Holy Cross, 8-5 in the second stanza to get the victory.

The Crusaders will host Boston College on Wednesday night at the Hart Astroturf. The game will start at 7:30 p.m. following a short ceremony honoring the Holy Cross seniors.
