Women's Lacrosse To Support Stephanie's Mission
WORCESTER, Mass. – Before its game against American on Saturday, April 24 at Holy Cross Field at 1:00 p.m., the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team will wear special t-shirts during warm-ups to honor Stephanie Crispinelli. Crispinelli, who was a sophomore at Lynn University, died in the earthquake in Haiti while on a humanitarian mission.
The Crusaders are also wearing the t-shirts to support 2007 Holy Cross graduate and former women's lacrosse player Jenna Constantino who was one of Stephanie's best friends. Jenna's parents grew up with Stephanie's parents (Lenny and Lin) and they have remained best friends. Stephanie was like Jenna's little sister. The Crispinelli family is also a supporter of the Holy Cross women's lacrosse team as they hosted the team for dinner at their house in Katonah, N.Y., on the way to Lehigh in 2006 and Lafayette in 2007. Since they had satellite TV, the team was able to watch the Holy Cross men's hockey team defeat Minnesota in the NCAA Tournament in the Crispinelli's living room.
“The point of the t-shirts is to inspire people to continue her mission of helping the poor,” said Constantino. “Though she didn't go to Holy Cross, she definitely embodied our motto of 'men and women for others.'"
The front of the t-shirts say "Failure is Not an Option," while on the back is the name of the website (http://stephaniesmission.org/) and the fund the family started (Stephanie Crispinelli Humanitarian Fund) with also a ribbon. “Failure is not an option” is on the shirt because Stephanie gave her brothers bracelets with this message before she left for Haiti and they are the words she lived by.
