Men's Varsity Eight Defeats #20 Drexel At George Washington Invitational

Location: Washington, D.C. (Potomac River)

Lead: The Holy Cross men’s rowing team competed in the George Washington Invitational on the Potomac River on Saturday, April 8. Holy Cross finished seventh overall out of eight teams with 27 points. George Washington won the Oliver T. Carr Bowl with 66 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Crusaders started the regatta by taking on George Washington. The No. 13 George Washington varsity eight placed first with a time of 5:18:30 to win the Sullivan Cup. The Crusaders’ varsity eight posted a time of 5:27:80.
  • George Washington’s second varsity eight (5:27.90) defeated the Crusaders (5:47.30).
  • The varsity eight then took on No. 16 Navy and No. 20 Drexel. Navy placed first with a time of 5:12.80, while the Crusaders were second with a school record time of 5:19.20 and Drexel was third with a time of 5:26.70.
  • The second varsity eight (5:42.70) placed third versus Navy (5:22.0) and Drexel (5:26.00).

 THE LINEUPS:

  • The Crusaders return to action when they take on Georgetown and Marist in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday, April 15.
