Men's Track And Field Defeated By Maine, 103-69

The Lead:  Three different Crusaders recorded a first-place finish, but the Holy Cross men’s track and field team came up short against Maine, 103-69, on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior co-captain Michael Araujo reached his personal-best height in the pole vault with a 4.40-meter mark, taking first overall in that event.
  • With a time of 8.60, sophomore Brandon Thornhill placed first overall in the 60-meter hurdles.
  • In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Ryan Clark hit a personal-record time of 53.52, notching his first career first-place finish in an event.
  • Senior John Bentivegna reached a personal-record time of 4:25.13 for a third-place finish in the one-mile run.  
  • Senior Henry Dodge placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.47, under a second off from his personal-best mark.
  • Junior Thomas Kalantzakos also claimed a second place finish with a time of 2:34.76 in the 1,000-meter run.
  • Senior Andre Harton took second place in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.80 meters, just 0.05 meters away from the first-place finisher.
  • Senior Tyson Youngs finished second in the triple jump with a 12.35-meter distance.

 UP NEXT:                                

  • The Crusaders will return to action in Boston on Saturday, Feb. 11 for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m. hosted by Boston University.
