Men's Hockey Announces 2017-2018 Schedule

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross director of athletics Nathan Pine and head men’s ice hockey coach David Berard have announced the Crusaders’ schedule for the 2017-2018 season, which includes 34 regular season contests with 17 taking place at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. Crusader fans will have a great opportunity to see Holy Cross play in Worcester right from the start as the team plays its first six games at home, beginning with an exhibition game against Carleton on Sept. 30. The regular season-opening series against Mercyhurst takes place from Oct. 13-14.


CRUSADERS TO TAKE ON STRONG NON-CONFERENCE COMPETITION

  • Holy Cross opens up its non-conference competition when it hosts Dartmouth on Oct. 27 before heading to Princeton on Oct. 29.
  • The Crusaders then travel to Brown on Nov. 21 before returning home to host Arizona State from Nov. 24-25.
  • Holy Cross completes its non-conference schedule when it travels to face off against Union on Dec. 9.

THE BATTLE FOR ATLANTIC HOCKEY SUPREMACY AT HOME

  • The Crusaders play 14 home games against Atlantic Hockey teams during this upcoming season.
  • Holy Cross starts off home conference play when it hosts Mercyhurst on Oct. 13-14 for the first two games of the season.
  • Holy Cross then hosts Bentley a week later on Oct. 20-21 before continuing home conference play against 2017 NCAA Tournament participant Air Force on Nov. 10-11.
  • The Crusaders do not host conference competition again until Dec. 30 when they face Sacred Heart before competing at home against AIC on Jan. 6.
  • Holy Cross then plays five home conference games in a row when it faces off against Sacred Heart on Jan. 13 before hosting Niagara on Jan. 19-20 and RIT on Jan. 26-27.
  • The Crusaders finish their home conference play on Feb. 22 when they conclude the regular season against AIC.

FIGHTING FOR CONFERENCE POWER ON THE ROAD

  • Holy Cross competes against conference teams on the road 14 times during the 2017-2018 season.
  • The Crusaders travel to Robert Morris on Nov. 3-4 before traveling to face off against Army on Nov. 17-18.
  • Holy Cross then competes at RIT on Dec. 1-2, before traveling to Sacred Heart on Dec. 29.
  • The Crusaders next head to AIC on Jan. 5 before competing at Sacred Heart on Jan. 12.
  • Holy Cross then plays five straight away games against conference teams from Feb. 9-17 when it faces off at Canisius on Feb. 2-3 before heading to Mercyhurst on Feb. 9-10 and to AIC on Feb. 17.

CRUSADERS LOOK TO WIN THIRD-EVER ATLANTIC HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP

  • All 11 schools will compete in the Atlantic Hockey Tournament with the top five teams earning a first round bye. The first round will be on March 2-4, while the quarterfinals are on March 9-10. Both rounds are best two-out-of-three, and will be played on the campus of the higher seed. The semifinals (March 16) and finals (March 17) will be held at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y.

HOLY CROSS HOSTS NCAA NORTHEAST REGIONAL

  • The 2018 NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey Northeast Regional will take place at the DCU Center on March 24-25.
  • Holy Cross previously held this event at the DCU Center in 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016.
  • The 2018 event will mark the 15th overall time that the regional will take place at the DCU Center.
  • The total of 48 NCAA regional hockey games which have been played at the DCU Center are currently the most in the history of the Division I men's ice hockey tournament.
