Men's Hockey To Host Military Appreciation Game Versus Air Force
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's hockey team will hold its annual Military Appreciation game sponsored by Silver Fox Motor Coaches on Friday, December 2, during its 7:00 p.m. home game against Air Force at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex. Both retired and active military members and their families will receive $4 admission to the game, and can purchase tickets in advance at GoHolyCross.com/tickets using the promotional code TROOPS. They can also take advantage of this offer at the Holy Cross ticket office at the Hart Center at the Luth Athletic Complex with a military ID.
"We are honored to host Military Appreciation Night during our upcoming game with Air Force on Friday," said Holy Cross head coach David Berard. "It is a great opportunity to show our appreciation to the military for their dedicated service to our country and for protecting the freedoms that we enjoy as citizens of the United States. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches and staff, we thank you!"
During the first intermission, Army Second Lieutenant Tim Dube will be honored as the Plymouth Rock Hometown Hero. Dube graduated from Northeastern University in 2011 where he earned a B.S. in Economics and completed the ROTC Program, commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. After also graduating from the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School in September of 2012, he moved to Fort Drum, N.Y. Dube deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, served as a Master Resilience Trainer and played on the Fort Drum Ice Hockey team, raising funds for various Veteran support organizations.
The Crusaders will be also partnering with “Heel The Sole.” Fans are encouraged to donate any spare shoes in decent shape. The shoes will then be given to Veterans Inc. in Worcester. Veterans Inc. is the largest provider of support services to veterans and their families in New England. Since 1990, they have helped more than 60,000 veterans in need and today operates offices and programs in all six New England states.
Home Base will also be on hand. Home Base is the largest private-sector program dedicated to healing the invisible wounds of war for post-9/11 service members, veterans and their families. It offers world-class clinical care, fitness and wellness-based programs, community outreach, education and research, regardless of an individual’s ability to pay.
Hair Cuttery will present free haircut coupons to Veterans Inc as a result of No Shave November.
