Danny Lopez Named C&R Tire Crusader Of The Week

Holy Cross Athletics   12-05-2016

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior forward Danny Lopez has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from Nov. 28-Dec. 4. Lopez helped lead the Holy Cross men’s ice hockey team to a 1-0-1 record in its weekend series with Air Force.

During Friday’s 2-2 tie with the Falcons, Lopez recorded an assist on the Crusaders’ first goal. Then in Saturday’s 3-2 win over Air Force, he scored the game-winning goal during the third period. Lopez found the back of the net off of a rebound, to put Holy Cross up 3-1 with 12:10 left to play. He has now recorded at least one point in 12 consecutive games, the longest streak by a Crusader since the 2005-2006 season.

On the year, Lopez is tied for the team lead in scoring with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists. Over the course of his collegiate career, he has now totaled 21 goals and 18 assists for 39 points in 64 games played.

Holy Cross (6-5-3 overall, 3-2-3 Atlantic Hockey) returns to action this weekend, with two games against Army West Point. The Crusaders will face the Black Knights on the road on Friday, Dec. 9, and at home on Saturday, Dec. 10. Tickets for Saturday's game can be purchased online at GoHolyCross.com/tickets or over the phone by calling 1-844-GOCROSS.
