Danny Lopez Earns Atlantic Hockey Player Of The Week Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross junior forward Danny Lopez has been named the Travel Team USA Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week. He posted three goals and one assist for four points for the week as the Crusaders went 2-0-0 against American International on Feb. 2-3. This is the first time Lopez has earned this honor.
On Thursday, Lopez posted one assist in the 3-1 win at AIC, while in the 8-2 win on Friday, he recorded his first career hat trick. This was the 23rd hat trick in the Division I history of the program.
Lopez leads the team with 30 points and 17 goals, as his 17 goals are tied for first in the league. Lopez leads the nation with 12 power play goals, which are ranked second all-time in the program’s Division I history. Tyler McGregor holds the record with 13 in 2005-2006.Lopez has now posted at least one point in 23 of the 28 games this season. For his 78-game career, Lopez has 30 goals, 22 assists and 52 points.
The Crusaders (12-10-6, 9-7-6 AHC), who are 6-2-3 over their last 11 games, return to action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 10-11, when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. to take on RIT (11-17-1, 11-12-0) at 7:05 p.m.
