Women's Hockey Defeats Franklin Pierce, 3-1

Winchendon, Mass. - The Holy Cross women's hockey team defeated Franklin Pierce 3-1 Friday night. The Crusader goals were scored by sophormore Victoria Young, freshman Allison Attea and freshman Katie McCuaig. Freshman Julia Pelletier recorded 14 saves in the net for the Crusaders and got her first win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Crusaders scored in the first period during a power play. Young found the back of the net off of a rebounded shot by sophomore Hannah Gillis. Junior Maeve Reilly also recorded an assist on Young's goal.
- Attea scored in the second period from a faceoff win by junior Julie Matthias. Junior Danielle Doherty was also in the play and recorded an assist on Attea's goal.
- Franklin Pierce scored three minutes into the third period. Nicole Amato scored from a shot on the right wing from Marissa Massaro making the score 2-1.
- Holy Cross finished off the game with a breakaway goal from McCuaig who was assisted by junior Sam Girard and freshman Antonia Matzka.
The Ravens will be back in Worcester next Wednesday, Oct. 25 to face the Crusaders again at 7:05 p.m. in the Hart Center Rink.
