WORCESTER, Mass - The Holy Cross women’s hockey team will travel to South Burlington, Vt. for two games against St. Michael’s. The Crusaders beat the Purple Knights in both matchups last year, 3-1.

SCOUTING HOLY CROSS
• The Crusaders are 2-3-1 on the season after facing RIT, New Hampshire and Franklin Pierce in October. The Crusaders will have two road games against St. Michael’s to start November play.
Maeve Reilly leads the Crusaders in points with five on the season (2-3-5).
Kara Violette is five points away from recording 100 career points. She has tallied two assists through five games (0-2-2).
Julia Pelletier has a .927 save percentage, averaging 1.30 goals against with a 2-0-1 record.
• The Crusaders scored nine goals against Franklin Pierce last week with Emily Lissner and Danielle Doherty both netting two goals. Lissner and Doherty’s multi-goal games came on Oct. 25 in the 6-1 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Four different Crusaders have recorded two goals on the season to lead the team: Reilly, Doherty, Lissner and McCuaig.
Hannah Gillis, Julie Matthias and Reilly all have three assists on the season.
• Freshman Julia Pelletier has defended the net for Holy Cross in 60.7% of the games. She started in the first matchup against RIT and both matchups with Franklin Pierce. Pelletier has a .927 save percentage and a 1.30 goals against average.
• Senior Tessie Salatas has played in 39.3% of the games for the Crusaders, starting in the second RIT game and against New Hampshire. She has a .824 save percentage and 6.00 goals against average.
• Holy Cross is 10% on the powerplay and has a 83.3% penalty kill through five games.

CRUSADERS IN EXHIBITION PLAY
• The Crusaders traveled to Dartmouth on Oct. 14 to face the Big Green. Holy Cross lost, 3-2, in overtime with goals from Reilly and Doherty.
• This was the first matchup between the Crusaders and the Big Green. The teams will play again Nov. 24.
• Holy Cross also hosted the Chinese National team in an exhibition Oct. 18.
• The Crusaders lost to the Chinese National team, 3-1, with a goal from MaCuaig.
• Pelletier was in the net for the Crusaders and recorded 36 saves.

RECAPPING FRANKLIN PIERCE
• Holy Cross leads the 2017-18 season series 2-0.
• The Crusaders traveled to Winchendon, Mass., Saturday Oct. 20 and defeated the Franklin Pierce Ravens, 3-1.
• Young scored a power play goal in the first period from Gillis and Reilly to give Holy Cross the 1-0 lead.
• Freshman Allison Attea notched her first career goal in the second period and was assisted by Doherty and Matthias.
• MacCuaig scored a breakaway goal assisted by Sam Girard and Antonia Matzka to give the Crusaders a 3-1 lead in the third.
• Pelletier recorded 14 saves against the Ravens.
• In the second matchup of the season at home, the Crusaders defeated the Ravens 6-1.
Emily Lissner and Danielle Doherty led Holy Cross with two goals each on the night scoring in the first and second periods to take the 4-0 lead.
Antonia Matzka netted her first career goal in the third, and Tori Messina had an unassisted goal to take the game, 6-1.

SCOUTING ST. MICHAEL’S
• The Purple Knights stand at 2-2-0 on the season.
• St. Michael’s defeated Post twice and dropped two games to Potsdam.
• Jillian Witwicki leads the Purple Knights with three points in the three games (1-2-3).
• St. Michael’s has a 91.7% penalty kill and went 16.7% on power plays through their first four games.
• The Purple Knight’s goalie Nicole Talcott has recorded a .915 save percentage and a 2.26 goals against average.
• St. Michael’s finished last season with a 4-21-0 record.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE PURPLE KNIGHTS
• Holy Cross rallied to a 3-1 victory over St. Michael’s last January.
• Matthias tied the game 1-1, and Kara Violette had two straight goals to take the game, 3-1.

In Goal for the Crusaders
• Pelletier has played in three games notching 51 saves with a .927 save percentage and 1.30 goals against average. Pelletier’s record for the 2017-18 season stands at 2-0-1 after two wins against Franklin Pierce and a tie against RIT.
• Senior goaltender Tessie Salatas has also played in two games and has made 56 saves, facing 68 shots for a season save percentage of .824 and 6.00 goals against average. This season she has a 0-2-0 record after facing New Hampshire and RIT.

Transition to Hockey East
• The Crusaders will be transistioning from the Division III NEHC into the Division I Women’s Hockey East Conference next year, for the 2018-19 season.
• This season, Holy Cross competed against Hockey East opponent, New Hampshire. In addition, the Crusaders will face Harvard and Dartmouth, who are members of the ECAC.
• The Crusaders will also have a mix of matches against Franklin Pierce, Sacred Heart, Post, Saint Michael’s and St. Anselm.
• Holy Cross hosted an exhibition game against Team China on Oct. 18.

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE CRUSADER STAFF
• The team welcomes new associate head coach Katie Lachapelle. She came to Holy Cross after nine seasons working as an assistant coach at Boston University from 2008-2017.
Michaela Tosone also joins the staff as the new director of operations. Tosone graduated from UMass Amherst where she was a member of the women’s hockey team.
