Goostrey and Messina Named NEWHA Players of the Week

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Kelsey Goostrey and junior Tori Messina were named the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. 

Goostrey was named Player of the Week after a four-goal weekend against St. Michael's. The senior forward scored twice in each game against the Purple Knights. Messina notched two goals and two assists on the weekend scoring twice in the second game against St. Michael's. Goostrey and Messina led the Crusaders to 9-0 and 9-1 victories over St. Michael's.

Goostrey has five points on the season (4-1-5) and Messina has recorded six points (3-3-6). The Crusaders tallied 18 goals in two games this past weekend against the Purple Knights and lead the NEWHA with 32 goals on the season. 

The NEWHA is comprised of six Division I/II independent women's hockey schools: Holy Cross, Post, St. Michael's. Saint Anselm, Franklin Pierce and Sacred Heart. The Crusaders will compete within the NEWHA for the 2017-18 season until the team transistions to Hockey East next year.
