The Holy Cross football team will play its final home game of the 2017 season on Saturday, Oct. 28, when it faces Georgetown at 1:05 p.m. at Fitton Field. The contest between the Crusaders and the Hoyas will be televised live by Charter TV3 and the Patriot League Network, and can be heard live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

This will be Family Weekend at Holy Cross, with the Most Valuable Player of the game taking home the Dr. Edward N. Anderson Award. In addition, the senior members of the Crusader squad will be honored on the field prior to kickoff at approximately 12:50 p.m.

Holy Cross stands 2-6 overall this year with a 1-2 mark in the Patriot League. The Crusaders own victories over No. 9 New Hampshire (51-26) and Bucknell (20-0), while falling to Connecticut (27-20), Dartmouth (27-26 in overtime), Lafayette (10-7), Monmouth (48-36), Yale (32-0) and Colgate (45-7). Holy Cross currently ranks 12th in kickoff coverage (17.1 yards per return), 22nd in fewest penalty yards (46.4 yards per game), 24th in the nation in passing offense (261.0 yards per game) and 27th in third down conversion defense (33.0 percent).

Senior quarterback Peter Pujals has led the Crusader offense by completing 180 of 331 passes for 2,068 yards and 13 touchdowns. Senior wide out Blaise Bell has posted 36 receptions for 443 yards and five scores, while junior wide receiver Martin Dorsey has caught 31 passes for 412 yards and two touchdowns. Senior tailback Gabe Guild leads the Holy Cross ground game with 300 yards on 68 carries.

On the defensive side of the ball, junior linebacker Ryan Brady leads the team with 84 tackles, three sacks and eight tackles for loss. Senior linebacker Nick McBeath has added 83 tackles, three sacks, nine tackles for loss, two interceptions and a fumble recovery, while senior defensive tackle Jack Kutschke has recorded 35 tackles, three sacks, 10 tackles for loss and two pass breakups.

Georgetown currently stands 1-6 overall this year with an 0-2 mark in the Patriot League. The Hoyas have lost six straight games since defeating Campbell 16-10 in their season opener.

Sophomore wide receiver Michael Dereus has led the Georgetown offense by catching 27 passes for 531 yards and five touchdowns. Sophomore quarterback Gunther Johnson has hit on 52 of 95 pass attempts for 661 yards and three scores, while senior tailback Alex Valles has rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown on 36 carries. Defensively, senior strong safety David Akere has made 60 tackles with three interceptions and a pass breakup. Senior linebacker Cameron Seward is also enjoying a strong season with 51 tackles and one tackle for loss.

After the contest with Georgetown, Holy Cross will travel to Fordham for a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday, Nov. 4.
