WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross football team has added Andy Romans to its coaching staff, as announced by head coach Tom Gilmore. Romans will serve as the running backs coach for the Crusaders.

Romans most recently served as the linebackers and running backs coach at St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J., from 2014-2015. He previously spent the 2009 season as the secondary coach at Muhlenberg College. Romans was also a strength, speed and conditioning coach for Good Energy Training in Allendale, N.J., from 2006-2011.

A 2009 graduate of Lafayette College with a bachelor's degree in American History, Romans was a three-time All-Patriot League selection for the Leopards at linebacker. He earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors during both his junior and senior seasons, while leading the team to a pair of Patriot League championships. Romans also earned Associated Press second team All-America honors in 2008, was invited to the New York Giants' rookie mini-camp following his graduation and was chosen to the Patriot League's 25th Anniversary team.

The Crusaders will look to contend for the Patriot League championship in 2017 with the return of 12 starters. Holy Cross is set to play five games at Fitton Field this fall, beginning with the home opener against New Hampshire on Sept. 16. Other key home dates will come against Lafayette (Sept. 30), Monmouth (Oct. 7), Colgate (Oct. 21) and Georgetown (Oct. 28).
