Women's Soccer Loses, 2-1, to Brown in Overtime
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross women’s soccer team lost in overtime, 2-1, to Brown Sunday afternoon.
The game was sent to overtime thanks to an 88th minute goal by senior Carly Flahive. Flahive took a shot that the Bear’s keeper saved, but she was right there for the rebound and headed it home.
Brown would win it five minutes into the first overtime period when Rebecca Rosen headed in a corner from Abby Carchio. It will go down as the Crusaders’ second overtime loss of the season, the first coming in a 2-1 game at UNH.
In the first half, the Bears got on the board first, when in the 29th minute, Carchio scored off of a cross from the right side.
The Crusaders will get a few days off now before they begin conference play. They will take on Navy Saturday at 11 a.m. in Annapolis, Md.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Brown outshot Holy Cross, 21-10.
- The Bears also held the advantage in corners, 8-3.
- Sophomore Sophia Lettieri made five saves on the day.
