Women's Soccer Earns 4-0 Victory Over Iona

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross women’s soccer team defeated Iona by a score of 4-0 on Friday afternoon. The Crusaders controlled the action for most of the first half, outshooting the Gaels 7-3. Senior Allie Neumann got the scoring started in just the fourth minute with a low shot from 10 yards out. Junior Ang Seslija also scored in the first half for the Crusaders, finding the back of the net in the 23rd minute with low corner shot.

In the second half, Holy Cross continued to add pressure, outshooting Iona 13-8. Senior Emily George scored in the 52nd minute with a high corner shot off a pass from the middle by Neumann. Freshman Sydney Fisher then gave the Crusaders their fourth goal in the 78th minute of play, as she gained the ball up the middle off a deflection and scored with a shot inside the left post.

  • The Crusaders outshot Iona, 20-11.
  • Sophomore Caroline Cashion stopped all four shots she faced in goal.
  • Tiffany Martinez made four saves in net for the Gaels.
  • Senior Caitlin Harty led Holy Cross with four shot attempts.

  • Cashion notched her second-consecutive shutout, and her third of the season.
