Alanna Hitscherich Named C&R Tire Crusader Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Alanna Hitscherich has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from Jan. 30-Feb. 5. Hitscherich set a new school record while leading the Holy Cross women’s track and field team to a third place finish at the Rhode Island Coaches Invitational on Saturday.
During the meet at Rhode Island, Hitscherich broke the all-time school record in the long jump with a distance of 5.69 meters. She bettered the mark of 5.67 meters which had been set by Alexandra Curtin in 2016, while placing third in the event. In her other events on Saturday, Hitscherich tied for first place in the triple jump with a leap of 11.09 meters, and placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.08 seconds.
In addition to her school-record mark in the long jump, Hitscherich also has the fastest times on the team this season in both the 55-meter hurdles (8.50 seconds) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.03 seconds).
The Crusaders return to action on Friday, Feb.10, when they travel to Boston University for the David Hemery Invitational.
