Alanna Hitscherich Named C&R Tire Crusader Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior Alanna Hitscherich has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from April 3-9. Hitscherich set a new school record while leading the Holy Cross women’s track and field team in competition at the Tiger Track Classic in Auburn, Ala., last weekend.
During the Tiger Track Classic, Hitscherich broke the all-time outdoor school record in the long jump with a distance of 5.78 meters. She bettered the mark of 5.66 meters which had been set by Kathy Mahoney in 1983, while placing eighth in the event. In her other events, Hitscherich posted new career bests in both the 100-meter hurdles (15.00 seconds) and the triple jump (11.72 meters).
In addition to her school-record mark in the long jump, Hitscherich has the best marks on the team this season in the 55-meter hurdles (8.50 seconds), the 60-meter hurdles (8.85 seconds), the 100-meter hurdles (15.00 seconds) and the triple jump (11.72 meters).
The Crusaders return to action on Saturday, April 15, when they travel to Amherst, Mass., for the Minuteman Invitational at 11:30 a.m.
