Women's Track And Field Announces Incoming Class

WORCESTER, Mass. - Holy Cross women's track and field head coach Egetta Alfonso has announced the freshman class for the 2017-2018 season. Grace Goodwin (Ridgefield, Conn.), Cricket Richter (Hong Kong, China), Hailey Mulville (Severn, Md.), Abbie Mokwuah (Longmeadow, Mass.), Elizabeth Larkin (Centerport, N.Y.), Caroline Hitchcock (Agawam, Mass.), Claire Hanlon (East Greenwich, R.I.), Sydney McDonald (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) Christa Jay Moore (Hubbardston, Mass.), Elizabeth Graves (Atlanta, Ga.) Marina MacKinnon (Marshfield, Mass.) and Emma Hayes (Queensbury, N.Y.) will be joining the Crusaders in the fall.

“I'm very excited about this group of incoming freshmen,” said Alfonso. “They represent the future success of our team, and they're some of the best that their state has to offer. I look forward to working with them over the next four years.”

  • Finished second in the FCIAC high jump with a height of 5'0” and second in the Class LL with a height of 5'2,” taking third in the high jump at the State Open, clearing her personal record height of 5'4”
  • Also played three years of varsity basketball, earning the Most Improved Award and helping the squad to a FCIAC Championship in 2015

  • Also spent four years on the varsity swim team, helping the team to an APAC Championship in 2015 and 2016
  • Named APAC All-Star from 2014-2016
  • Additionally was a member of the triathlon team, representing the Hong Kong National Team, spending five years on the varsity squad
  • Won the bronze medal at the Asian Championship in 2016 in the mixed teams relay

  • Named Western Mass Athlete of the Year in track and field in 2016 and was an All-State and New England champion in 2016
  • Also played four years of varsity volleyball , with career totals of 332 kills, 130 blocks and 86 aces
  • Served as the volleyball team captain in 2016 and won the team academic award in 2013
  • Helped her team to a volleyball Western Mass. championship in 2013 and 2015
  • Additionally played two years of varsity basketball, helping the team to a state final in 2014

  • For indoor track, she was named All-League in the 1,000m (2014 and 2015), 600m (2016), 4x400m (2014 and 2016), 4x800m (2015), and All-County in the 4x800m (2015)
  • For outdoor track, she earned All-League and All-Division honors in the 800m (2015 and 2016), 4x800m (2015) and 4x400m (2016)
  • Helped set the record in the 4x800m and 4x400m
  • Held personal records of 1:40.4 in the 600m, 3:11.66 in the 1,000m, 1:00.66 in the 400m and 2:18.15 in the 800m
  • Also ran three seasons of varsity cross country, serving as team captain in 2016

  • Named team MVP in 2014 and 2016 and was the team's leading points scorer during those years
  • Earned the 2015 Mass. Indoor All-State Champion status in the high jump, making it to the All-State championship in three-straight years

  • Ran personal-best time of 18:18 as a senior on the cross country team.
