Jeter & Matherne Named Academic All-Patriot League

WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross women's track and field juniors Hannah Jeter and Zoe Matherne have been named Academic All-Patriot League as voted on by sport information directors from around the conference. In order to be eligible for the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a key contributor in his or her sport. Jeter picked up the honor for the fourth time in her career (between cross country and track and field), while Matherne was selected for the first time.


Jeter, an Economics major, owns a 3.91 cumulative GPA and was previously named the Patriot League's 2016 Scholar Athlete of the Year and 2014 Rookie of the Year in cross country. On the track this season, she finished fifth in the 10,000-meter run (37:08.07) at the Patriot League outdoor championship. She additionally holds the top mark for the Crusaders in the 5,000-meter run with her time of 17:45.29.

In the fall at the 2016 Patriot League cross country championship, she was named first team All-Patriot League for leading the Crusaders with a sixth-place finish. The team notched its best performance since 2001 by placing third. She also was named All-ECAC for finishing fourth in the ECAC Championship and helping the team to a second-place finish.

Jeter is a four-time Academic All-Patriot League and three-time All-ECAC selection, earning first team All-Patriot League honors twice and second team All-Patriot League accolades once. She is a Veteran Leader in the Holy Cross Leadership Academy. 


Matherne owns  a cumulative GPA of 3.54 as a History major, and serves as the treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She won the 800-meter run at the 2017 Patriot League outdoor championship while setting a school record with her time of 2:08.05. Matherne additionally ran as part of the 4x800-meter relay team that finished third at the Patriot League outdoor championship and placed third at the ECAC outdoor championship in the 800-meter run.

Matherne took fourth place in the 400-meter run at Skyhawk Invitational with her time of 57.22, setting another school record. She is also the school record holder in the indoor 1,500-meter and one-mile runs. Other top performances for Matherne this season include taking second in the 800-meter run at the ECAC indoor championship, winning the 1,000-meter run at New England indoor championship and placing second in the 800-meter run at Patriot League indoor championship.

She is a six-time All-ECAC selection, in addition to earning All-New England honors twice, first team All-Patriot League honors three times, and second team All-Patriot League honors twice.
