Jen Lapicki was announced as the head softball coach at Holy Cross on July 8, 2016. It is her first head coaching job at the NCAA Division 1 level, but the former Florida State player has learned from some of the best. She played for coach Lonni Alameda at Florida State. Veronica Rivera at Iona gave Lapicki her first coaching job. She was an assistant with Lisa Van Ackeren at Princeton. Lapicki plans to use what she learned from all these coaches to help her in her new role.
“I’ve been lucky enough along the way to have great mentors and great colleagues that I’ve worked with where we’ve had our hands in everything running a program. I’ve been lucky enough to work with people where making this transition will be smooth,” Lapicki said. “I had great people and great mentors all through my playing and coaching career that set me in a good place for this position.”
Lapicki is no stranger to softball in the northeast. She comes to Holy Cross from coaching the New Jersey Breakers in Farmington, N.J. Prior to that she was an assistant coach at Princeton University for three seasons. Playing her high school softball at Immaculata High School in Somerville, Lapicki was named first-team all-county three times.
