Mandy McCarthy Named C&R Tire Crusader Of The Week

WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior third baseman Mandy McCarthy has been named the C&R Tire Crusader of the Week, for competition from March 20-26. McCarthy went eight-for-12 at the plate over four games for the Holy Cross softball team at the Stony Brook Invitational last week.

During Saturday’s 7-2 victory over Brown, McCarthy went two-for-three with a walk and a run scored. She was then one-for-two in Saturday’s 9-0 loss to Stony Brook, and two-for-three with a run scored in Sunday’s 11-2 loss to Stony Brook. McCarthy concluded the weekend by going three-for-four and driving in three runs during Sunday’s 7-5 loss to Brown.

Overall this year, McCarthy is now batting .353 with three doubles, four runs scored and nine runs batted in. Over the course of her Holy Cross career, she owns a .279 batting average with 14 doubles, three home runs, 18 runs scored and 35 runs batted in.

The Crusaders (3-15 overall) return to action on Tuesday, March 28, when they travel to Harvard for a 4:00 p.m. game.
