The Lead: Nicole Lundstrom led Providence with three RBIs and a solo home run, as the Holy Cross softball team suffered an 8-0 setback to the Friars on the road on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Crusaders went down 2-0 in the second inning, as the Friars took an early lead using three hits, including a RBI double hit by Megan McCune.
  • Providence then tacked on the next four runs to move out to a 6-0 advantage over the following two innings. The Friars did their damage in the bottom of the third inning, scoring three runs with back-to-back homers by Lundstrom and Brittney Veler before tallying another run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.

Freshman second baseman Sydney Behrens recorded her first career hit on a shot to right field before senior right fielder Kylee Malouf reached on an error with two outs. However, the Friars found the final out of the inning before the Crusaders could plate a run.
