Krisanda, McCarthy & Wahler Pick Up Academic All-Patriot League Honors
WORCESTER, Mass. – Three Crusaders earned Academic All-Patriot League accolades, as announced by the league on Wednesday. Senior second baseman Emily Krisanda, junior third baseman Mandy McCarthy and sophomore shortstop Taylor Wahler each earned Academic All-Patriot League honors for the first time in their careers. Holy Cross tied with Boston University in having the most student-athletes receiving this accolade.
Wahler, who was also named second team All-Patriot League this season, led the way with a 3.70 GPA, having been named to the Academic Honor Roll her freshman year.
She has been an instrumental part of Holy Cross lineup, while also playing a vital role in the infield at shortstop. Starting in all 41 games, she shares the team lead of 44 hits, 23 runs scored and seven doubles.
Wahler is also third on the team with a .493 slugging percentage and a .328 batting average. Hitting three triples this season, she is currently tied for sixth in the league, while her slugging percentage ranks 10th among all hitters in the conference.
Wahler has had 11 multi-hit games this year, notching at least one base hit in 32 of 41 games played this season. She was named Corvias Patriot League Player of the Week on April 4.
A chemistry major with a 3.53 GPA, Krisanda is currently batting third in the lineup and is on a 10-game hitting streak, batting .467 during this span with a .833 slugging percentage. Krisanda has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the past three years.
Over the Crusaders' most recent weekend series against Lafayette, Krisanda batted .556 with three RBIs, one double, one home run and a 1.000 slugging percentage. She picked up the game-winning RBI in the 5-0 win on May 7, notching a RBI double to give Holy Cross its 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
In conference play, Krisanda is tied for second with three homers and six doubles, while she ranks 10th with her .582 league slugging percentage. Overall she is tied for third in the conference with four home runs and is batting .349 with a team-leading 44 hits, seven doubles, a .500 slugging percentage and four home runs.
McCarthy, a psychology major with a 3.64 GPA was also named second team All-Patriot League this year. A member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), she has been named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for two straight years.
Batting fourth in the lineup, McCarthy has been a force at the plate this season with her team-leading .365 batting average, which currently ranks second in the Patriot League.
McCarthy additionally leads the Crusaders with a .405 on-base percentage which is sixth in the league, and ranks second on the team with a .496 slugging percentage, which ranks ninth in the conference. She has had 11 multi-hit games this year while totaling 42 hits, six doubles, three homers and 23 RBIs. Starting at third base in all 41 games this season, McCarthy holds a .962 fielding percentage with 36 putouts and 114 assists.
