Holy Cross Picked Eighth In 2016 Preseason Poll
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men's golf team was picked to finish eighth in the 2016 Patriot League Preseason Poll, which is voted on by the head coaches and sports information directors from around the league.
Loyola (Md.), who won the 2015 Patriot League Championship, was selected to repeat as champion again this season with 95 total points and 11 first-place votes.
Army was tabbed second in the poll with 87 points and five first-place votes, while Navy was picked third with 71 points. Colgate and Lafayette were picked fourth with 56 points apiece, while Bucknell came in sixth at 37 points. Lehigh (seventh, 33 points) and Holy Cross (eighth, 13 points) round out the remaining two spots in the poll.
The 2016 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship will be held at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md. on April 30-May 1. The Patriot League Men Golf Championship is a 54-hole event with 36 holes of play scheduled for Saturday and the final 18 set for Sunday. Teams will field six golfers each, with the low four scores each round to be counted towards the team total.
The Holy Cross men’s golf team begins the 2016 season today, when it travels to Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Monday and Tuesday, March 7-8 to open its 2016 spring season at the Appalachian State Bash at the Beach.
