Patriot League Announces Volleyball Preseason Poll
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross volleyball team was selected to finish eighth in the Patriot League preseason poll, as voted on by the league’s head coaches and media relations directors. The Crusaders received 33 points in the voting process.
American University, who won the conference championship last year, was selected to top the Patriot League again with 128 points and 16 first-place votes. Army West Point followed in second place with 112 points. Colgate (98 points), Navy (87 points) and Lehigh (75 points) were voted as the third, fourth and fifth place teams, respectively.
Bucknell (57 points), Loyola Maryland (35 points) and Lafayette (23 points) were voted as the sixth, seventh and ninth place teams.
The Crusaders will begin the 2017 season at the St. John's Jack Kaiser Volleyball Classic Aug. 25 in Queens, N.Y. facing St. John's in the first game. Holy Cross' first home game will take place Sept. 1 against Fairleigh Dickinson in the Holy Cross Invitational Tournament.
