Sifferlen Named Patriot League Player Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior co-captain Mandy Sifferlen has been named the Molten Patriot League Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This marks the second time this season and third time in her career she has received this honor.
Over this past weekend, Sifferlen led the Crusaders to back-to-back sweep victories over Bucknell and Lehigh, as Holy Cross concluded its season at home. In total, she tallied 49 kills and 18 digs, holding a .381 hitting percentage, while averaging 8.16 kills per set.
Sifferlen recorded a team-best 25 kills and five digs in the Crusaders’ 3-0 win over Bucknell on Friday, Nov. 11 before registering a double-double including a team leading 24 kills and 13 digs the following night in a three-set victory over Lehigh. This was the first time Holy Cross defeated the Mountain Hawks since 2007. The Crusaders’ six Patriot League wins are tied for the most conference victories in program history, while Holy Cross’ 10 wins are the most since the 2011 season.
Sifferlen led the Patriot League and concluded the 2016 season ranked fifth in the nation with 4.97 kills per set, eighth in the nation with 497 kills and sixth in the nation with 5.41 points per set.
