ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Holy Cross volleyball team lost to the Navy Mids, 3-0 Friday night. The Crusaders were led by freshman middle blocker Clare Honan with six kills (.214 hitting percentage) and four blocks. The Mids had two players with double-digit kills and a team hitting percentage of .376 on the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Mids jumped to an 11-4 lead in the first set after a kill by Maddi Sgattoni. Navy controlled the rest of the set and held Holy Cross to 11 points.
Holy Cross kept the second set close and came back to take the lead 17-16 after a kill by junior middle blocker Allie Barry. The Mids were able to score the last three points to take the set 25-20.
The Mids extended their lead in the third set to 17-12 after a kill by Sgattoni. Navy captured the third set, 25-15 and the match, 3-0.
The Crusaders take on American in Washington, D.C Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.
