WORCESTER, Mass. – Senior George Capen was named the Corvias Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This is the first conference weekly award for Capen in his career.

This past week, Capen had a pair of standout performances in relief for Holy Cross in which he held a perfect ERA. With 4.1 scoreless innings pitched, he earned the win as the Crusaders defeated UC Riverside by a score of 5-4 last Tuesday. On Saturday, the senior allowed just one unearned run through 4.2 innings pitched, earning the win as the Crusaders defeated USC for the first time since the 1958 College World Series.

On the season, Capen has made appearances in five games in relief, totaling 12.1 innings pitched in that time. He holds an ERA of 1.46 for the year, having only allowed a pair of earned runs.

Holy Cross is scheduled to be back in action this Saturday, March 18, as the Crusaders travel to Jamaica, N.Y. to take on St. John’s.
