Austin Masel Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Austin Masel was named the Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This is the first weekly award for Masel in his career.
Masel had another strong week for Holy Cross, batting .389 (7-for-18) in five games. He scored a pair of runs over the course of the week while driving in seven more. In the 15-5 win over UMass, Masel went 3-for-5 at the plate while notching his first career home run. He also helped lead the Crusaders to an 8-7 win over Yale Sunday, going 1-for-2 with three walks while scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs.
On the season, Masel leads Holy Cross with batting average of .355 while posting a team-leading 12 runs scored. He has also tallied three doubles while ranking second on the team with 11 RBIs. Masel also holds the highest on base percentage among starters at .405 and leads the Crusaders with 10 multiple hit games.
Holy Cross is scheduled to be back in action Wednesday, March 29, as the Crusaders take on Harvard in Cambridge, Mass. at 3:30 p.m.
