Austin Masel Named Patriot League Rookie Of The Week
WORCESTER, Mass. – Freshman Austin Masel has been named the Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This is the second time this season that Masel has earned the award.
Masel had another strong weekend at the plate for Holy Cross, batting .438 (7-for-16) in four games against Lafayette. He scored five runs while driving in two runs and hitting one home run. For the week, Masel posted a .500 on-base percentage with a .688 slugging percentage.
On the season, Masel leads Holy Cross with a .323 batting average and 29 runs scored. He is also tied for second on the team with 25 runs batted in, and has notched eight doubles with four home runs. The freshman has averaged a team-leading .389 on-base percentage while posting a .447 slugging percentage. Masel also leads the Crusaders with 17 multiple hit games, and has scored at least one run in each of his last six games.
The Crusaders are set to return to action on Wednesday, May 3, when they play host to Marist at 5:05 p.m.
