Baseball To Host Bucknell In Patriot League Championship Series

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Holy Cross baseball team will host Bucknell in the Patriot League Championship series at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field this weekend. The Crusaders are set to appear in the championship for the second-straight year, and the fifth time in program history. Holy Cross is seeking its first Patriot League Championship in program history.

The series will begin this Friday, May 19, with the first game beginning at 5:05 p.m. The Crusaders will then play game two against the Bison on Saturday, May 20 at 12:05 p.m. Game three, if necessary, will be played approximately 30 minutes following the conclusion of game two on Saturday. This marks the third time Holy Cross has hosted the Patriot League Championship, and the first time since 2013.

The Crusaders advanced to the championship for the second-straight season after sweeping Army West Point in the semifinals with a pair of wins on Saturday. Holy Cross claimed the first game 8-2, then completed a comeback effort to take game two, 5-4, after scoring four runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Bucknell swept No. 1-seeded Navy over the weekend to advance to the championship for the first time since 2014. The Bison held the Midshipmen to one run over both games, claiming the first game on Saturday by a score of 4-1, and clinching the series with a 5-0 win on Sunday.
