The Holy Cross baseball team will host Yale in a doubleheader Saturday, May 27, in Worcester.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRUSADERS

  • The Crusaders captured their first-ever Patriot League Tournament title this past weekend, and punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1978. To read the recap from the championship, click here.
  • The NCAA Tournament selection show is scheduled for this Monday, May 29 at noon, and can be viewed on ESPN2.
  • Senior Anthony Critelli leads Holy Cross with a .295 batting average and a .513 slugging percentage. He has tallied eight home runs with 30 runs batted in, 27 runs scored and 10 doubles. During the Patriot League Championship he tied the school record for career home runs with his 24th.
  • Junior Cam O'Neill leads the Crusaders with 42 runs batted in and nine home runs on the season. He has also notched 29 runs scored while posting a slugging percentage of .423.
  • Senior Brendan King leads the Crusaders' starting rotation with a 3.73 ERA through 72.1 innings pitched. In 13 starts he has tallied 55 strikeouts while holding opponents to a .219 batting average. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Patriot League Tournament.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS

  • Yale punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament after winning their sixth Ivy League Championship with a pair of wins over Penn last Tuesday. The Bulldogs won game one by a score of 5-0 before clinching the title with an 11-7 win in game two.
  • Benny Wanger leads Yale's offense with a .352 batting average and 48 runs batted in on the year.
  • Scott Politz leads the Bulldog's starting rotation with a 3.62 ERA and 62 strikeouts through 77.0 innings pitched.
  • Head coach John Stuper is in his 25th season with Yale.
