Three Crusaders Earn All-Patriot League Honors

WORCESTER, Mass. – Three Holy Cross baseball student-athletes earned All-Patriot League recognition, as voted on by the conference’s head coaches. Junior Danny Barlok, sophomore Austin Masel and sophomore Chris Rinaldi were all named First Team All-Patriot League. Masel earned all-conference honors for the second-straight year, while Barlok and Rinaldi were named All-Patriot League for the first time in their careers.

Barlok had a stellar regular season on the mound for Holy Cross, ranking second in the Patriot League with an ERA of 1.85. With 19 appearances, he pitched for 48.2 innings and earned a record of 5-2 with three saves. Barlok also ranks fourth in the Patriot League for strikeouts at 71. In hits allowed per nine innings, he ranks 13th in the nation with 5.36. Barlok was one of five unanimous first team selections.

Masel has been the top batter for Holy Cross all season, posting an average of .321 while ranking second on the team with 25 runs scored and 23 RBIs. He ranks third in the Patriot League for slugging percentage with .489. On defense, Masel posted a perfect fielding percentage, registering 85 putouts with three assists on the year. In conference play, he batted .329 while adding 11 runs and nine RBIs with seven extra-base hits. Masel was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, and Second Team All-Patriot League in 2017.

Rinaldi finished the regular season ranked second on the Crusaders with a .319 batting average. He led Holy Cross with 27 runs scored and 11 extra-base hits on the year while posting 12 RBIs and one home run. On defense, Rinaldi posted a .929 fielding percentage with 68 putouts, 90 assists and 12 errors on the year. In Patriot League games, he led the Crusaders with a .372 batting average and 18 runs scored. Rinaldi also added 10 RBIs and a team-leading eight doubles in conference play.

Holy Cross finished the regular season at 17-25 overall with an 11-14 mark in Patriot League play. They will serve as the fourth seed in the Patriot League Tournament, and will face top-seeded Navy in a best-of-three semifinal series beginning this Saturday, May 12 at 12:00 p.m. in Annapolis, Md.
