
Baseball Announces Freshman Class For 2018 Season

WORCESTER, Mass. – Head Baseball Coach Greg DiCenzo has announced the freshman class for the 2018 season. The Crusaders will welcome fifteen student-athletes to the squad this spring. This year’s freshman class features student-athletes from seven different states.
Here is a look at the Crusaders’ freshman class.

Evan Blum
- Three-year varsity athlete at Georgetown Prep under head coach Chris Rodriguez
- Served as team captain as a senior
- Earned all-conference honors and Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention in 2017
- Made Dean’s List three-straight years (sophomore, junior and senior)
Zach Buck
- Four-year varsity athlete at Broad Run under head coach Tommy Meier
- Won team’s offensive MVP award as a sophomore and senior
- Served as team captain his senior year
- Earned all-conference recognition as a sophomore, junior and senior
- Team reached regional playoffs his sophomore and senior years
- Finished career with .448 batting average and caught 48 percent of runners stealing
- Named to academic honor roll all four years
Luke Dawson
- Competed two years at each St. John Neumann (freshman and sophomore) and Gulf Coast (junior and senior)
- Won district championship with St. John Neumann as a sophomore
- Served as team captain as a senior at Gulf Coast
- Named second team all-conference and first team all-district as a senior
- Won regional championship with Gulf Coast as a senior
Peter Dudunakis
- Four-year varsity starter at The Overlake School under head coach Mike Davidson
- Served as team captain as a junior and a senior
- Named first team all-league as a junior and senior
- Team went undefeated in league play during his four years, capturing the league title all four seasons
- Hold the school single season records for stolen bases and hits
- Batted over .500 as a junior and a senior, finishing his career with a .443 average
- Qualified for National Honors Society as a senior
Liam Dvorak
- Competes in two varsity seasons at Chaminade under head coach Mike Pienkos
- Earned Rawlings-Perfect Game Second Team Northeast Region and All-American honorable mention honors
- Also competed in football for two seasons, earning all-league honors
- Named to academic honor roll all four years
Kyle Johnson
- Competed in three varsity seasons at St. John’s College High School under head coach Mark Gibbs
- Earned team’s Golden Glove honor in 2017
- Named Second Team All-WCAC and First Team USA Today All-D.C. Player honors as a senior
- Team won four-straight WCAC Championships
- Member of the National Honor Society in 2015 and earned academic honors all four years
David Kale
- Competed at Lakeland under head coach Bill Casey
- Also played two seasons of varsity basketball
- Member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society in 2017
- Named to academic honor roll all four years
Garret Keough
- Competed in three varsity seasons at Marblehead under head coach Jason Tarasuik
- Served as team captain his junior and senior years
- Earned team’s defensive MVP honor in 2014 and pitcher of the year honor twice (2015-2016)
- A two-time Northeast Conference All-Star
- Named Lynn Item All-Area twice
- Team won conference title in 2016 and made state tournament twice (2015-2016)
- Finalist for the Salem News Area Scholar-Athlete of the Year award
- Also a three-year varsity athlete in football where he earned all-conference honors and earned Northeastern Conference Offensive MVP recognition in 2015
- Competed in one season of post-graduate baseball at the Loomis Chaffee School, where he earned First Team All-Founders’ League and Connecticut Prep All-Star honors
- Earned high honors all five years, member of the National Honor Society
Eric Lopes
- Competed in one season at Boston College High School under head coach Norman Welsh
- Earned team’s Scholar Athlete Award in 2017
- Team won Catholic Conference Championship in 2017
- Earned academic honors all four years
Noah Luckenbaugh
- Competed in four varsity seasons at South Lakes under head coach Morgan Spencer
- Named all-conference as a junior and a senior
- Member of the Japanese Honor Society and Business Honor Society
Cam Meyer
- Competed three seasons at Newton South and two seasons at The Salisbury School
- Served as team captain as a junior at Newton South and a senior at The Salisbury School
- Earned Salisbury School Baseball Award
- Named second team all-league as a junior and first team as a senior
- Also competed in two seasons of soccer and one season of football
- Named to honor roll as a junior
Kevin Mulhearn
- Competed in four varsity seasons at The Taft School under head coach John Piacenza
- Served as team captain as a senior
- Earned team’s 2017 Stone Baseball Award
- A Founders League All-Star in 2016
- Held a 14-4 career record as a starting pitcher

Andrew Selima

- Named Salem News Student-Athlete award nominee
- Team was Mass. Super 8 Division 1A State Runners-Up 2015-2017
- Finished career with a .326 average, 8 home runs and 62 RBI
- Also played one season of varsity basketball
- President of National Honor Society
- Earned Academic Excellence recognition all four years
Robert Stone
- Competed in three varsity seasons at Staples under head coach Jack McFarland
- Served as team captain as a senior
- Earned team’s Senior Award
- All-FCIAC honorable mention
- Team won LL CIAC State Championship in 2017
- Finished with a career ERA of 1.71
