The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 21, when it heads to Sacred Heart for a 7:00 p.m. contest. The game can be seen online through NEC Front Row, and will also air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross currently stands 4-7 overall this season. The Crusaders have lost three of their last four games, and are coming off a 65-54 setback at Rhode Island on Sunday. Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in scoring defense (64.5 points per game), steals (8.8 steals per game) assist-to-turnover ratio (1.29-to-1) and turnover margin (+4.7 turnovers per game).

Senior guard Robert Champion leads the team by averaging 13.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. Senior forward Malachi Alexander has also been playing well, averaging 12.4 points, 5.1 boards and 1.4 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore forward Karl Charles has added 9.6 points, 4.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Sacred Heart enters the game with an overall record of 5-7 this year. The Pioneers have lost three of their last five games and were defeated by Boston College 82-75 on Sunday.

Sophomore guard Quincy McKnight leads the team by averaging 20.0 points, 5.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, while hitting 76.7 percent of his free throws. Junior forward Joseph Lopez has added 11.8 points and 8.2 boards per contest, and junior forward Devon Barnett is chipping in with 8.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

Following the contest with Sacred Heart, Holy Cross will return home to face Marist at 12:05 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23.
