Following a week off for Christmas, the Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns to the court on Friday, Dec. 30, when it travels to Boston University for its Patriot League opener at 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen online through the Patriot League Network, and will also air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross currently stands 6-7 overall this season. The Crusaders have won three of their last four games, and are coming off a 68-59 victory over Marist last Friday. Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in scoring defense (64.3 points per game), steals (8.8 steals per game) assist-to-turnover ratio (1.28-to-1) and turnover margin (+4.5 turnovers per game).

Senior forward Malachi Alexander leads the team by averaging 14.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, while hitting 41.5 percent of his three-point field goal attempts. Senior guard Robert Champion has also been playing well, averaging 13.7 points, 3.6 boards and 1.7 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore forward Karl Charles has added 9.4 points, 4.0 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Boston University enters the game with an overall record of 5-7 on the year. The Terriers have lost six of their last seven games, and are coming off a 77-75 setback at UMass Lowell on Dec. 21.

Senior guard Eric Fanning leads the team by averaging 13.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while hitting 77.8 percent of his free throws. Junior guard Cedric Hankerson has added 12.1 points, 2.6 boards and 1.9 steals per contest, and senior forward Justin Alston is chipping in with 10.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Following the contest with Boston University, Holy Cross will return home to face Navy at 7:05 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2.
