The Holy Cross men’s basketball team returns to the court on Monday, Jan. 2, when it plays host to Navy at 7:05 p.m. The contest between the Crusaders and the Midshipmen can be seen live on the internet through Crusader Vision and the Patriot League Network. In addition, the game will air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross currently stands 6-8 overall and 0-1 in the Patriot League. The Crusaders have won three of their last five games, but were defeated by Boston University 61-55 on Friday. Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in scoring defense (64.1 points per game), steals (8.9 steals per game) assist-to-turnover ratio (1.32-to-1) and turnover margin (+4.9 turnovers per game).

Senior guard Robert Champion leads the team by averaging 14.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Senior forward Malachi Alexander has also been playing well, averaging 13.9 points, 5.4 boards and 1.6 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore forward Karl Charles has added 9.4 points, 4.1 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Navy enters the game with an overall record of 5-8 and an 0-1 mark in the Patriot League. The Midshipmen have lost two straight and four of their last six, and are coming off a 59-55 setback against Bucknell on Friday.

Junior guard Shawn Anderson leads the team by averaging 12.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Sophomore forward George Kiernan has added 9.1 points and 2.8 boards per contest, while junior forward Tom Lacey is chipping in with 7.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Following the contest with Navy, Holy Cross will travel to Colgate for a 7:00 p.m. game on Thursday, Jan. 5.
