The Holy Cross men’s basketball team hits the road this weekend, heading to American for a 12:00 p.m. contest on Sunday, Feb. 19. The game between the Crusaders and the Eagles can be seen live on the internet through the Patriot League Network. In addition, the contest will air live on WEEI 1440 AM in Worcester.

Holy Cross stands 13-15 on the year with a 7-8 mark in Patriot League play. The Crusaders have lost five of their last seven games, and are coming off a 52-47 setback against Army on Wednesday night. Holy Cross leads the Patriot League in scoring defense (62.6 points per game), steals (9.5 steals per game), turnover margin (+5.1 turnovers per game) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.21-to-1).

The Crusaders are currently tied with Colgate for sixth place in the Patriot League. Holy Cross can still finish as high as third or as low as ninth in the final conference standings.

Senior forward Malachi Alexander leads the team by averaging 13.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Senior guard Robert Champion has also enjoyed a strong season, averaging 12.9 points, 3.3 boards and 1.6 steals per contest. In addition, sophomore forward Karl Charles has added 9.8 points, 3.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.

American enters the game with an overall record of 6-20 and a 3-12 mark in the Patriot League. The Eagles have dropped seven of their last eight games, and were defeated by Lafayette 78-65 on Wednesday.

Freshman guard Sa’eed Nelson leads the team by averaging 15.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game. Freshman center Mark Gasperini has added 12.1 points and 4.3 boards per contest, while sophomore forward Delante Jones is chipping in with 11.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.

Following the contest at American, Holy Cross will return home to play host to Loyola (Md.) at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
